Welcome to our 2012 season of performances. The works chosen this year explore the idea of progress and contrast; from a period when Europe was emerging from the Renaissance in ever bolder musical directions with the works of Monteverdi, Gesualdo and Cardoso, we go on to explore the established musical identities of Europe in the Baroque with Charpentier, Handel and Vivaldi. Lastly, in December, we explore the revival of English polyphony with two masses written some 400 years apart. We're very excited to be performing such an important and diverse range of works this year and hope that you can join us to share our excitement and enjoyment.
